No Display after a cpu change

J.Munslow

Recently changed my i5 6600k for an i7 6700k in an ASUS Z170 pro gaming motherboard but i cannot get any display to my monitors. i currently use two monitors that were working perfectly well together before the upgrade. after failing to get an output from my i7, i popped the i5 back into my pc and was able to get an output on one monitor only. i think it's also worth mentioning that i get one beep from the system speaker which further investigation tells me is the video card. So my question is now, where should i be looking for this problem? is it related to the i7 or the gpu? what possible fixes are there for this?

thanks :)

i've resetted the cmos and removed then re installed the battery, is this the same?

when you have reset bios your board internal cpu graphics will be turned (back) on. most likely my tip will help.

oh dear.... i'd plugged the hdmi cable into the wrong input on my monitor.......  perhaps this is related to the i7 then? (i'm running both monitors right now :))

removing the battery only has an effect if the power cable was previously disconnected and the capacitors were drained
