So every time i open ATIFlash and attempt to type in the code "atiflash -p -f 0 biosname.rom" it instantly closes once i press enter. Atiwinflash gives me a subsystem id mismatch so i cant use that. Could anyone help me out with the commands? Im trying to flash a 580 bios onto a 480. Thanks

I would strongly recommend again flashing the 580 bios onto a 480, what card do you have and what BIOS are you trying to flash? I'm pretty sure you have to force ATiflash to flash the newer bios though and I'm not familiar with the command,

Is your card a good overclocker or can is barely do 1300MHz? I'd say stick with the 4GB as as far as I know the Nitro card (which I assume is the sapphire one you have) is a custom PCB so probably only has 4GB of memory.

Im currently running at 1412 with +96 on the vcore. I only want to flash for the lower clocks at idle and thus lower fan speeds as well as the higher voltage.
But the problem isnt that, its that atiflash itself wont work. Am i typing in the code wrong or something?

you could just make a custom fan profile, the slightly lower clocks won't make a huge difference. you might get a little higher overclock too, but having dual BIOS will help, as if you fuck one up you still have a fall back.

while there is extra volts, Polaris will only gain a few MHz per 15mv once you hit "the wall" so it still depends on the silicon.

https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/how-to-use-atiflash.57750/
there are a bunch of commands, and the ones you want are here
-f Force flashing regardless of security checking BIOS file info check OR boot-up card

-fa Force flashing bypassing already-programmed check

-fm Forec flashing bypassing BIOS memory config check

-fs Force flashing bypassing BIOS SSID check

-fp Force flashing bypassing BIOS P/N check

I know you tried -f, but did you entre the right bios file name, if yes then try some of the other options, you want one of the other more specific ones.

try flashing the stock BIOS to rule out if it's an issue with ATIflash, did you check if the card thinks it's an RX 580?

atiflash wont work. i can do it with atiwinflash but only with 480 bioses. i just cant get the atiflash cmd to actually respond to anything i type. it instantly closes. i believe it is a problem with atiflash:(

I had similar problems with PuTTY of all things after the creators update, I had to reinstall it to get it to work, but maybe the file was currupt when you downloaded it or if you use Windows 10 and updated it's just post update fallout, I know you can do it with a DOS style OS for Nvidia back in the day, maybe it's the same for AMD, I haven't flashed a vBIOS in a month or two and that was a pre hacked one for an R9 380X, it worked then.

lmao I'd say then to try the ATIflash boot drive as detailed further down from the commands, that might have more luck since it's booting into a dedicated OS environment if that isn't what you've been doing.

just like the CMD window except it's DOS basically, instead of windows loading you put it on a bootable USB drive and your PC boots from that, you stick the BIOS you wanna load on the USB key and bobs your uncle, scroll down to under the commands list and it tells you how to do it.

well that's a shame. You could always just hard mod manual voltage control with a potentiometer if you want super accurate control over voltages lol

who needs a warranty, also flashing that BIOS will probably void it somethings happens and they check to see what's on either of them. Platidip it and stick it on LN2 and take it to 1600MHz and show a GTX 1070 who's boss until it breaks.

Flashing from inside windows is a terrible idea btw, so many things could go wrong since the driver is working with the GPU to display. Also, what BIOS are you trying to flash?
