hi i am building a new pc and would like to include water cooling:

Case: corsair 900d obsidian

MOBO: asus ROG maximus IX Hero

CPU: i7-7700k

GPU: EVGA 1080 ti (founders edition)

Ram: 4x8 Ballistix

PSU: EVGA 750 G3

Is the 480mm radiator (16 fpi) enough for OC / stressing both the CPU and the GPU

I couldn't really find a higher FPI 480mm radiator, If you find one please share it with me- Thanks

Why don't you look at cards that come with waterblocks, msi, gigabyte, evga, and asus all have them at ~normal price for a card so you could save some $. but the 480mm rad should be enough to keep your system running fine, may not be totally silent though if that's your goal

I am not really looking at those because I really want to just do a custom loop, also the 1080 ti doesn't have those released in any brand of GPU sellers yet.

also my goal isn't to be silent, more or less to be efficient and cool. I do not care about the noise.

Damn. Well for that money you should definitely look at a really high-end monitor and 2 1080 Tis. No need for 32GB RAM if you're just gaming (and if you're not just gaming, then a 7700K is a weak choice)

well 7700k has very nice single core performance, which a lot of games depend only on single cores and the ram is just an option I like my ram i currently have only 8GB 2x4 and it sucks so hard. and two 1080 ti's is just overkill at that point. I don't want to spend over $3500 and with 2 1080 ti's that's already over like $3600

1000w PSU is an extreme overkill, I can't really use the GPU's because the 1080 ti is fairly new and doesn't usually support any other than founder editions for water cooling plates the case ... i don't want 4 radiators i'd rather have 1 480mm rad in the 900d or 2 480mm. I could back off a little from ram and make it fairly less. I don't know about the mobo, i am sort of a noob when it comes to them. 

My other option:

I forgot to mention sotrage i will buy a 1tb SSD and i will salvage my other pc which has a 250GB ssd and 2x 500GB HDD so about +300 (I will use the 1TB SSD for basic gaming and the 250 SSD for booting and systems; the other HDD will just be for other junk i might add a SATA m.2 card to boost my HD speeds , i don't think it works on SSD's)

The one thing I feel like you're spending way too much on is that case. I'm sure there are $150 cases that support 2 360mm rads. So you can save $200 there. Otherwise a sound build if it's only for games.

yeah the case is saving me money, if I where to buy another case with 2x360mm rad support that will end up costing way more than just a single 480mm rad on the bottom, I have  already looked. It would cost me about $100 more, and another factor is that the case is very friendly to water cooling builds and room.

well i was looking around and I found the Defined R5 Fractal has a 420mm rad support, but it came with the fact that the 420mm is not a standard 120mm form, I couldn't really find a good 420mm rad with more than 20fpi

Well 420s with 20 fpi will still outperform 360s with say 16. (And one will be enough for your setup). Fin denisty is not the be-all end-all for radiator performance. Thickness is probably more important.

well that's another problem (sorry that i am bugging you so much) the thickness would play in to the fact that the defined R5 doesn't have a lot of room at the top between the mobo, so I would doubt it would fit without touching the mobo

 

And i meant i could only find a 16 fpi 420mm rad
