Benchmarking Premiere

Alright guys. Boss comes down at work and is like: "Need you to benchmark some stuff, here's a 10 core Xeon and a 1080 and a Quadro and a 7700k and a 7600k. Have fun."

 

Yeah, I can run canned benchmarks and I know what the results would be. But in my work with Premiere I have seen little difference with hardware.

 

Anyone have configuration tips or ideas of what to test to show the differences in hardware?

Probably Cinebench R15 as Asus Realbench, try valley and stuff. If you can try GTA 5 or something on the Xeon with the 1080, maybe 10c xeons arent that bad for gaming!

I don't care about the gaming performance, BUT in this case I feel some of our users want 1080's for the purpose of gaming, so that could be an aside note that that is the likely motivation.

 

We'll see, I'm putting this in my LIST.

I'll put some fun info on here, don't worry!

 

It's going to be a hardware purchasing guide, so our users have a better idea of what to buy, so I'm going to do my best to test EVERYTHING.

Run them through CrystalDiskMark to see if there is any different between transfer rates of the 7700k, 7600k, and the xeon

I wonder if there is a good way to test caching performance... like setting up a RAMdisk or something... These machines have alot of RAM.

Yeah I think I will, I'm also looking at testing Premiere Rendering and Timeline Performance with difference video codecs.
