Need a new thermal paste?

AkhTwo

Hi guys. This is my first time building a pc. I am using the wraith spire cooler. But the problem is that I couldn't line up the cooler holes with the given backplate initially. So I had to remove the cooler lot of times during the installation. So do I need a new thermal paste coz I have mounted and unmounted it lot of times? Also this was only during installation but not after powering on the system.

Look at your system's CPU temperatures. If they are higher than they should be, you should change the thermal paste. If not, then just leave it as it is.

Main Rig: EK custom loop |2700x @ 4.25 Ghz| Msi X470 Gaming Plus | 32gb DDR4 | Aorus GTX 1080ti @ 2088 Mhz | TT Core X71 TG | Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500gb + 256gb Toshiba NVMe + 275GB Crucial m.2

Typically no, unless you manage to wreck the surface up pretty badly.

As @Davidwr80 said, check your system temperatures.

I advise you use temperatures of similar systems that you can find online to match.

If the difference at gaming load is around 7-10% difference then i suggest getting a new paste.

It wouldn't hurt to clean and reapply.

The problem is that thermal paste and cleaning kit costs about 30$ here in my country.
