Looking for a laptop for under $350 used or new

What im looking for is

- good battery life

- compact and easy to carry around

- tight monitor hinge

- quick boot times

I'm trying to avoid a chromebook, but if its a last resort i will use one

edit: can easily carry with one hand

Compared to the Alienware I carry to work daily it's a piece of paper.

This is one of the higher quality machines you'll get for the price.  Think about it this way; you get a quality machine AND a workout for your arm.

compared to my MacBook your Alienware is very low quality, think pads will last much longer also vary thin and light.

Lol I was literally trying to convince him to GET a Thinkpad, no one even brought MacBooks into the equation..

By piece of paper, I meant weight, silly goose, not the quality.  I love Thinkpads, that's why I WANT HIM TO GET ONE!
