Input lag. Urgent

Dalynx

my system

I7 6700K 16gb's of ram gtx 1080 240gb ssd 2tb hdd and a gamer edition gigabyte mobo

guys for the last few months now i've been suffering from input lag in every single one of my games from fucking terraria all the way up to titanfall 2 and overwatch, nothing i've tried has even come close to fixing the issue , but just in case you think eh i'm sure it's not that bad i've done the following.

Replaced my monitor,

tried multiple mouses, gaming ones and none gaming

reinstalled gpu drivers, mouse drivers, updated windows.

Tried different monitor cables hdmi and dvi ( the 144hz cable xD )

tried every port on my mobo at least 3 times each now

ive even gone as far as to talk to nvidia, corsair and gigabyte, all 3 being fucking clueless.

the one and only thing i haven't tried that i can think of is reinstalling windows and i'd really really rather not as i'm not really a software genius and would even fuck something simple up, plus my hdd has 1.5 tb of stuff on it and i don't wanna loose it (if it does delete it i don't even know)

If ANYONE can think of ANYTHING i could try please please let me know

......

I have reinstalled windows and tried an entirely different gpu and didn't do shiit...... i just dunno what to do now

Well.. Have you tried using a different cable?

I know I had the same, I just swapped the cable to another and it worked.

If you're on HDMI, try another brand and preferably a new one.

Try DVI and DP if your monitor allows it.

Sounds like the cable from my experience.

Do you have another GPU laying around?

Possibly try the iGPU?

If the input lag disappears we'll know it's GPU related

You use the iGPU through taking out your GPU, the GTX 1080, and by plugging in a vidoe cable to the motherboard.

To do this you'll have to remove the GPU from the system or you'll get 'no signal' since your PC with prioritize the normal GPU if it's in your system.

Yes great! Plug in this as a test as well, I'd recommend testing with this before trying the iGPU.

If the input lag persists even though you plugged in another GPU but it's fine with the iGPU you'll know it's either GPU/Motherboard related.

So:

  1. Test with GS450
  2. Test iGPU (plug out any GPU's in your system when doing this

Well with my RX470, if I turned VSR on and kept my 120Hz monitor at 60Hz, I would get stuttering, screen tearing and input lag. Maybe its something to do with Nvidia control panel? :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Virtual super resolution, this is where your GPU would render frames at a higher resolution than the resolution of your monitor (but I only had it on, still running at 1080p).

Nvidia calls it dynamic super resolution.

It should as booting has nothing to do with windows

You can usually boot via GPU's without drivers, you can download them afterwards.

The point is just that you have to test if it works better, so any game basically.
