STRIKE 7 Driver Can't Install

Go to solution Solved by Lett3rs,

After a lot of testing with different drivers i ended up finding one that worked.

Version "7.0.28.20" link "https://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=460088918522f201ba49381ff9f"

When it's downloaded "Right Click->Troubleshoot Compatibility->Troubleshoot Program->Check The First One (The Program Worked In Earlier etc.)-> Windows 7-> and start the program/driver."

That was the only driver that worked for me after testing a lot.

If the driver doesn't work for you just download some of the old ones and make sure to test compatibility with both Win7 and Win8.

Installing the Software:

Just try to install that from Mad Catz "http://www.madcatz.com/downloads/"

That worked for me.

Hope that would help any others in the future :)

Yes I did unplug and insert it as they showed xD

I think it wants you to have it completely unplugged during the install and plug it in when asked to do so.

Try it again with it completely out during the entire installation, plug it in when asked! :)

Which USB ports are you trying with? Does it require a 3.0 or a 2.0? Sometimes that matters alot. :)

I know my keyboard takes either one 3.0 port or two 2.0!

Is it the keyboard drivers from the CD or Web?

If CD, dont. Get it from the manufacturer homepage.

And well.. If all else fails and you haven't tried CD installation I guess go for it?

Do you have a second PC somehwere? Try installing it there?

Are you sure you downloaded the correct drivers?

OS/Keyboard version?

I noticed there was a V.7 driver and a Strike 7.

Sounds like you might have a DOA keyboard on your hands.

No i don't think so... Because it worked when I got it a few years back, but then it have been laying in a box over the past year because i have been traveling and now it doesn't work.

It might've gotten bad along the way or it just doesn't agree with windows 10, I'm guessing that's what you're on.

I saw something in these posts about downloading the 8.1/7 driver and installing them with its respective compatibility mode.

This is how they explained it:
In the event that a driver isn't found to be installing under Windows 10's environment you can take advantage of compatibility mode within 10.
Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility Tab>Windows 7/8 [from the drop down menu]
provided your functionality with the Venom module was active on Windows 7/8.

If that^ doesn't work I don't think it will at all.

I made it work :D im not really sure on how... I just tried everything for over an hour xD but thanks for the help with ideas! :)

What did you do?

If someone else had the issue, try writing it down here and mark your own comment as solved!
Can be used as future reference. :)

I registered specially for this, but I got a lot of their drivers & softwares, even the SDK.

Download: http://uppit.com/iuwackj43tfy

Virus Total (In case any one is sketchy) https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/96ab10466e8858acae867bb1f3fe56fe23964720d48b7f8ae9a5920371acb49a/detection

As MadCatz told me ages ago regarding installation issues for the actual touch screen, they suggested that I installed the firmware on a Windows 7 PC, which of course worked though this is only for the touch screen.

API Download (For those SDK): http://uppit.com/6k21mzchblnu

Virus Total: https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/a54950780b23196659d063643b8d787b5efa08eb93098354d66fc8c2f591108d/detection

Shows one virus (Malware.Obscure!1.9C59 (classic)), though not sure why? I've had no issues with it.

If anyone needs any help then I can try to help :P

The key to getting this keyboard working properly on windows 8/10 is "STRIKE7_Firmware_v203.exe".

You will need to do the firmware update from a windows 7 machine (Spin a up a VM or something if you have to).

Then you should be able to complete the driver installation on win 8/10.

Unfortunately i cant remember where exactly where i found it (I think it was some latin american 'owners club' page on facebook).

But basically if you can find the firmware update, drivers and a windows 7 PC then you should be golden.

(p.s. If someone ever finds a link to that firmware, be a champ and post it on every "Strike 7 not working" thread you can find).

Actually this may have been where i found it: https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=23&v_code=41245

If your unsure, run it from a VM or run an AV scan on it.  Whatever you feel necessary.

Don't blame me if it bricks your keyboard. (it was your choice to run it).

Good luck!
