Windows 8.1 system hang up

So recently i have had my system hanging/freezing up to grinding hault 24/7 and i cant figure out why, it take a long time to start up (lagging) and it takes forever to even get to anything, is it the hard drive or windows 8.1 using 100% of my hard drive. I have a Seagate 1Tb Internal HDD and its been in my pc for about roughly 3 years now.

What would be the recomended of those two and will i have to replace my operating system?

cheap 256 gb ssd with a 1 tb hdd.

what OS do you use usually? i personally would recommend windows 10.

Alright sounds good and my last two OS was windows 8, then 8.1 because it came standard with the system.

I think this may be the problem, but can you try making an image of your OS? You'll need another computer to create a VHD for VirtualBox from the image.

Ah well i dont exactly have another computer to create a VHD but the disk is running at 100% and its pretty weird. The last thing i remember doing on my pc was playing Arma 3 and then about 10 min later the pc started to slowe down more and more to now which is almost unusable

It was regular king of the hill, i played it almost everyday along side with the Half Life 2 campaign if i was not touching Arma 3.

No problem. Do you have a friend that can connect a SATA data and power cable for his/her PC? They can make the image for you just in case. You can also try making a Linux bootable USB to make an image of the drive from your home.

While waiting about three years for it to load the pc said "end process microsoft windows" maybe its windows or the disk is dieing so hard that it cant do anything?
