I have been having problems with my compter as of late and after some trouble shooting, found that my ram usage was at ~89% and my gpu was at 5%- Idk if this was an error. I tested this with gta5, MSI after burner and windows task manager usage.

my build https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/muzuz/saved/mT4H99 (it isn't too great)750ti ftw (Evga) fx 6300 8gb ddr3 1600 Ram.

I could spend ~£50 on another stick of ram now and then wait until the rest of my is also too slow to play games

OR

I could sell my gpu cpu motherboard and ram now while they are worth something and upgrade to a rx 480/1060 ~£180   I5 7500 I found at a really good price of £136 (brand new no cpu cooler)    Motherboard £50 16Gb ddr4~£80       CPU cooler £9

OR

i5 4460 Rx470 Ram ddr3 (8gb) Motherboard and 500Gb hdd (bonus) and  add my ram then sell my gpu cpu mobo.

I am unsure what to do and you guys have been really helpful in the past.

~89% ram usage isn't normal with 8 gb. Do an alt+ctrl+del, get task manager and look at which processes eat up all your memory. There is most likely a software issue here.

I have ~15 chrome tabs open and i am at 78% memory usage rn.

Adding (alot) moar ram won't help that much. With that I mean... Browsers usually don't like that kind of stuff, and it still makes browsers feel slugish.

Trying to stay on topic, just deleted a huge story. :P

Browsers can become slugish when you've got to many open tabs. I personaly have an strange issue where a youtube live stream makes my entire pc/browser very slow. Even if I stop the stream and only use the chat, it gets slugish as hell. I do an alt ctrl del, close task on firefox and reboot firefox and then it works all fine again. In this case, firefox doesn't get much beyond 1.8 gb mem usage. (I have 16 gb)

Another strange thing I noticed is .iso files which are mounted as a virtual drive. When I would mount an .iso, it eats up my ram. My memory usage gauge spikes and starts showing things like your computer does. But it doesn't show up in the processes taskbar. Make sure you've got no mounted stuff in place.

same some more money and jump on a Ryzen 5. You could add a little more ram to help you along, however I wouldn't upgrade to an i5 now.

(so it isn't a problem with chrome)

I just added up all of the stuff under processes in task manager and it is about 5gb and it is saying 80% of the 8gb is being used, can you  make sense of this?

5 gb out of 8 gb = ~62.5% memory usage, not 80%. So not all memory usage is being displayed. I also think 5gb of mem usage while @ idle is alot. Not sure, but I think something is poluting your software/OS. Your pc should be able to play LoL just fine. But how to fix this software issue, I dunno. And I really doubt adding another 8 gb will fix your issues.

Sluggish? My chrome is the same speed as if it has only one tab open even though I'm using 200 tabs, and my ram usage is around 16gb

My pc use to play lol very well and infact, most games still run fine. I have noticed that loading times in h1z1 are now way longer and league use to run 100fps plus on max so idk what has happened as of late. I had a part of my drive partitioned to backup and i got rid of it and then left for a 1 week holiday. I came back and everything felt slower. I checked for drivers and things that I might have deleted but as far as I know, I have all of them so I have no idea.

Using firefox here. I've got LOTS of tabs, but I've got only +/- 10 loaded at best. And with loaded I mean... When I restart my browser, all my tabs are still there. They are just not loaded yet. Are all your 200 tabs loaded?

Therefor I think your pc has software issues. Therefor I would think there is a piece of software which gives you this bad performance. Fixing a problem like that with just moar ram won't be a real fix in my opinion.

Yes they are all loaded so rip ram. Also using Firefox I've noticed that when lots of tabs are loaded that it lags like a 8800GT on crysis3 at max settings 4k

A clean install of your windows should fix any software problems you had. If you are going to do this, just make a good back-up of all your files. Might want to make a list of all the software you've had installed, so you don't forget anything.

When you are done with a fresh/clean install, test LoL, and then add the aditional software. If you can, try installing the clean installation on a seperate disk, with your current main disk disconnected. There are advantages here, for testing purposes.

You could try getting malware bytes, but upgrading ram never hurts. I call 8gb the bare minimum now. 16gb is more realistic, of course games don't require that much, but I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't just close all their chrome tabs just to game

I have done a fresh install of windows already. I did it as if it was an upgrade however, so all the files were kept and i just booted back to my normal desktop

Woahdude, let's see if we could fix it another way without immediately going to a fresh install

That's why I always ALT+CTRL+DEL firefox when I want to close it, or get it back snappy. Don't want to close them tabs or add them to my bookmarks/favorites. Works better and faster then using the (laggy) X in the top right corner.

Agreed, but he asked for A solution that would work, if there was any. And well, that will usually work.

I also suggested to use a second disk to try this.

That's not an fresh install, because all the registry polution would have stayed in place. The point of a fresh/clean install is starting from scratch.
