Hello everyone, i recently got a Delta GFB1248VHW and im wondering how to connect a 48V 0.93A GFB series fan to my heatsink. Now the main problem is hooking up the fan to a power supply that can handle such a monster (along with various other delta fans) Im intrested in putting monster of a fan on my heatsink, would anybody know how it can be done? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!:D

P.S would it be able to compete with high end water cooling?

You'd need some kind of inverter...48V is kind of hard to get...I've seen 24V inverters

I like delta fans as well. I have the more normal 3600RPM PWM 120MM x 38MM fans. They run really quiet at low loads.

My H105 works so good with delta fans. haha.

Arent there 48 volt power supplies for pc's? And i just absolutely adore Delta fans, i actually collect them as a hobby. :D ill show you my collection if you want

Not for PCs, they use 12v at the max. There are standard power supplies for 48V DC though, but ah, I have no idea how you would have your PC control the fan speed.

Haha, sure. I have three delta fans on my H105 in push / pull. I have to give delta credit, they work really well at being quiet / keeping cool. Most of the time, my PC is at 400-800 rpm at idle / light load.

Ah thats why i love deltas though, you can keep them at a nice quiet setting but they will be pushing a very favorable amount of air and there is so much more potential why other standard fans may be running at full speed to match it at low speeds, do you feel that they can compete with water cooling with all that potential? I feel that they can.

Well, why stop there? Stick deltas on water cooling. haha.

I originally had my deltas on my hyper 212+ in push / pull (and one on the case as exhaust). That really kept up well with my 2500K overclocked. However, I got a 2700K and got the H105 to keep things cooler (Wow, hyperthreading really does run hot)

Hyperthreading does increase a lot heat and delta fans have a lot of potential to get rid of it too, have you checked the wall behind your pc to see if there dust plastered onto the wall xD and i wonder, can you mount a centrifigural style blower onto a tower heatsink and having a pull configuration or have two pulling through and bringing air in through the sides of the tower heatsink? Kind of a crazy idea i had.

What dust? You just have to run the fans at full speed. haha. My hyper 212 couldn't collect dust...just full speed blast and the dust is gone from the heatsink...and the wall...and the dog runs away.

hmm, possible, but I don't know where you'd have space to mount a two blower fans of that size.

Ah i just thought about a system that could work, two 160mm blowers that i ordered today, long screws and some small rubber pads so it does not make contact with the heatsink. Anyways what Delta fans do you have in your system? Are they all the same model?

Haha, I wish you luck with your testing.

I have three of these...I'm going to get a fourth to fill up the radiator completely, but I keep forgetting to order it...https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835706039

Also, yeah, amperage will always go down with higher voltage. If resistance remains the same, adding more voltage will drop the current needed. Same reason why higher voltage is used for more industrial applications. The highest I've messed with is 277V (480V) AC in the US. Fun stuff. Not so fun to get shocked by...it gets you to the ground quick. haha.

Haha awesome and yeah i understand now, and those delta fans are quality fans that will probably outlive the system itself, like jesus 70000+ hours of run time, you can put them in miltiple systems/builds and not have to worry about a thing. Oh and if i cant get the 48v fan to work then i have a 92mm dual fan to work with as a fall back or my 240 cfm 120mm AFB series fan to get rolling along if it wont be used for push configuration. I want to find a little 40mm slot to put my 15000rpm tiny monster, so many plans but never enough fans.

Yeah, that's the one thing I like about delta. Yeah, they may be expensive, but they last pretty much forever. You can feel the quality when you pick these up too. They are heavy and solid feeling, no flex at all. I've had mine for three years now and they work as great as the day I bought them...I can't say the same for the other cheaper brand name fans I own...they developed bearing issues.

I wish delta would make a 140mm fan though.

Haha, never enough fans indeed. Just create a windtunnel in the PC.

Thats why im researching for a power supply for this twin monster GFB series fan, then a set of 240 cfm for intake for a push config. Ahhhh so many Delta fans but not enough slots, 7 slots is not enough for Delta fans, but so many series that i want to install to make my computer move on its own and make its own hole in the wall, possibly killing the cat but thats the price to pay with good old Delta's :D

Yeah, you should be able to find a 120v AC to 48V DC power supply somewhere...sadly no idea bout speed control. I know for sure it would need a separate power supply than the PC itself. Curious to see how loud that thing goes...

Haha, yeah, hope you get fan grills too, otherwise you might lose a finger by accident.

It's funny though, the radiator with the delta fans right now weighs quite a lot from the original fans. I even had to get extended screws for the radiator (They were for normal 28mm fans), but well worth it. 100% Intel Burn Test load at 1.45v / 4.9 GHz is 60-66C. No heatsoak issues. lol. It even blows so much air the temps of my GPU dropped...haha...

Hahaha! Thats absolutely mental, you can cool everything in your pc with either a clever set up or raw power with Delta fans! Oh and i bet it will sound like an air raid siren. And oh well ill probably make a external system so that it will power on the dual fan when i turn on the pc and a knob to adjust the speed of it if it is pwm compatable or just regulating the speed with power control. I would love to take my pc to a lan party and watch everyone's reaction. Ill have to stickerbomb my pc with Delta Electronic's picture/logo sometime later. :D

I do actually to derp around some day and make a custom loop with just a single 120mm rad, and see how many components delta fans in push / pull can cool before it overheats. One day....

Ah, that sounds pretty fun to make that control. I think it's probably no PWM since it I don't see a fourth wire on that fan you have.

Yeah, I've trolled my friends showing them the 50% fan speed and they're like wow, that's loud....then turn it up to full speed and they go what the hell is that...

Their reaction is the best, they are like "oh thats cool" and then you whip that knob to 100% quick and your friends are either curious or horrorfied about your choice in fans xD gotta love Delta fans for that reason. :D i have a centrifugal fan that sounds like a turbine starting up and then proceeding to get louder with the low spooling time, the faster it goes the better it gets.

So i been looking at how to operate this monster on my pc and i been doing research into boost converters https://www.amazon.com/Geeetech-Converter-10-32V-Voltage-Charger/dp/B00NK4LOBC

now i cant piece this puzzle together but i feel that im taking a step closer to a solution, can someone help me out with a solution. I may have to use 2 psu's with the boost converter (getting one more psu) :D im going to make this happen one way or another. :):D
