Backup local and network guide?

Could some make a guide to automatic backup, both local and over network (both local and out of house)?

I'm not good at network stuff, and could need to learn this.

(Would also like a home server setup guide, personally for Win 8, but Win 7 would be great too)

Hopefully the mods could let this post be until someone make a guide?

Sorry for the few off Capital letters in my posts, it does it on its own when I Write in English, since my OS is in another Language. It's annoying.
