PC won't post

Go to solution Solved by EPPHO,

Mobo bios needs to be updated, it doesn't recognize kabylake cpu

Hey Guys,

I have no idea if this is the right way/place, i'm a newbie, please correct me if i'm wrong :)

I've build a PC with the following specs:
MB: ASUS B150M-PLUS D3

RAM: 2x Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB

GC: Nvidia Geforce GTX960
Processor: Intel i5-7500, socket 1151

Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO

After the build was completed i did a test boot and all the fans are spinning, but no beep or something on the monitor.

Tested both integrated graphics and the graphics card. Also tried single ram stick, in every possible slot.

It does beep when no ram is installed, that's the error code for no ram detected (obviously)

So i thought maybe the RAM sticks are broken? Tested it with my old motherboard and processor (AMD FX-6300 with Gigabyte (idk the model)) and it worked just fine.

Both processor and motherboard are brand new. CMOS clear also didn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

How do i do that if it doesn't even get me in the BIOS menu?

You need to have a skylake CPU for that. You should have searched a little bit on google about the compatibility. I guess you have to ask if the shop where you bought the motherboard can do it for you, if you bought it online then rip... You can try ask your friends to borrow you a skylake cpu if they have it or if they know how  to update the bios.

Yes bought it online :(

Nobody of my friends are tech-nerds like me, that's why i asked it here. No way of just inserting a USB flash drive?

No, you need a skylake cpu to do it. Do you have a tech store near you? They should do it for you but they will probably ask for some money

What he said.
Wort case scenario you buy something like this http://www.outletpc.com/sc1787-intel-celeron-g3900-skylake-dualcore-28-ghz-lga.html?utm_source=sc1787-intel-celeron-g3900-skylake-dualcore-28-ghz-lga&utm_medium=shopping%2Bengine&utm_campaign=pcpartpicker&utm_content=Intel%2B-%2BCPUs (Processors) > Intel LGA1151

pop it into your motherboard and update the BIOS.

If you can get access to a skylake cpu you can borrow then that would be ideal so you can update it and return it

Maybe buy it, flash it and make use of the 14 days return policy :P
