New needs - CPU suggestions?

Hi,

 

I built my budget gaming PC back in 2014 with a core i3 4130 and a GTX 750, along with 8GB of RAM and a 250GB SSD. I've been quite happy with the overall performance so far, but I'm currently having issues opening large Excel spreadsheets or .txt files. I'm talking more particularly about a 1.5 GB CSV file, which makes LibreOffice crash, and Sublime isn't doing much better? Can you suggest some more appropriate software, or a more appropriate CPU. Would a more recent core i3 be enough? Power efficiency and price are big factors for me.
