Asus r9 290 artifacts

MinerModi

So I just got an r9 290 direct cu ii oc 4gb and I went ahead and installed it in my pc. It booted up fine but as soon as i install any drivers it just starts to show severe artifacts . Though when i uninstall all  the drivers using DDU the artifacts disappear but its recognized as Microst Basic Display Adapter. I have even tried flashing a newer bios even though it already had what seemed to be the latest version and i have tried underclocking the card and increasing or decreasing the power limit.

Any help would be appreciated

The artifacts reappear when you reinstall the drivers?

if so try updating them to the newest version.

if you are on the current version already try going back to an earlier release.

I've seen some reports of issues with the 17.4 driver branch, so if you've been installing 17.4.2, try 17.2.1 instead.

I suspect it might be a motherboard issue since this slot has had an r7 240 sort of dropped on it but im not sure

Well I have an update .

So I tried the R9 290 on a motherboard found near a garbage bin and it actually worked perfectly fine ! :) Now this means that I have to figure out if there is a way to repair it or if I am going to have to replace it

If anyone has an idea on stuff I could try to fix the pcie slot then please tell me

Thanks
