Its probably one of the newest DSL modems. Not a whole lot of new choices for DSL modems. I know a few guys that have this modem and say its good.

The one you mentioned is a Modem/Router Combo unit. Its the DSL Modem and Router in one unit. The one I mentioned is just a DSL Modem that  you plug into your phone line and then you plug it into a separate router. DSL modems themselves are typically not very expensive, Whats your service provider and speeds you should be getting?

not that fast 16mbpsdown, 1mpbs up according to speedtest.net. but we are getting fibre soon. problem is the wireless cuts in an out at a fair distance and want basicly the BEST possible solution for speed/reliability/low latency as possible without paying a obserd amount of $ price limit is $600 nzd around 450 us

Yeah the DSL modem's are typically dont cost much because they dont output much speed in the first place. All you are really looking for a DSL modem is reliability. I suppose you are on ADSL2. I would recommend not getting a modem/router unit, and just getting a seperate modem and router. As for a Router, the ASUS and Netgear line of routers is pretty solid. If your getting Fiber soon, you are going to want a fast router for future use after your done with your DSL service.

Feel Free to do your own research online on the equipment as well before you buy it if you want, and determine whats best for you. So why a seperate Modem and Router? Because you said you where getting Fiber service later i think a seperate router would be best. When you get your fiber service you can just rent a modem from them and use the router you bought. If you where to get a Modem/Router, It would only be usable on a DSL connection.

The modem/router units that say ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL, Etc, only work with DSL service (phone line). A fiber connection is completely different, they typically use a cable type connector  or Cat 5 connection on the back of the unit.

It means AC1900 = 600MBPS on 2.4GHz, 1300MBPS on 5Ghz, Note this is theoretical maximum speeds. Very overkill for DSL, But it will be nice for a future Fiber connection.
