Hello, how are you?

I am wondering how does gaming handle higher resolutions.

I know that on the desktop, when you go from 1080p to 1440p and keep the same scaling, there is more space on the desktop and Ui elements are smaller.

Does this also happen in games?

In watchdogs for example, at 1080p, the Ui elements like the map and such, are quite big.

Does running the game at 1440p make this elements smaller and you are able to see more, like more npc on screen and such?

Cheers

Depends on the game. Some games have done an excellent job with keeping captions the same size while others (DA:A) make the letters microscopic.

played watch dogs 2 at 4k/1440p/1080p, its the same for scaling

it only might get weird if you're playing at 16:10 or 4:3

if its 16:9, expect great scaling overall

138 is a good number.

depends.

if a game is poorly coded, and bases it's UI scale on pixels, then yes, it will all be smaller.

usually, especially recently, games don't base UI on pixels, and then it scales fine with high rez displays.

also, many games have a slider for UI size.
