Hi, this will be my first post on the forums, I just bought a new pc, so I want to take the ssd from my old one and move it to my new one, my old pc has a 500gb samsung 840 and a 3tb seagate hdd, I have already removed all data from the 3tb drive and have cloned the ssd to the hdd, however when I go into the BIOS to change the boot order, when I try to boot to the 3tb drive it says it can't boot to it.

All help appreciated.

What did you use to clone the disk and what does it say when you try and boot? You might not be able to clone at all depending on the hardware variations, when changing motherboard, especially across different chipsets a fresh install is strongly recommended.

I used macrium reflect disk imaging and backup, the message is something along the lines of "no boot drive detected, please select in bios"

you have to image the boot partition and MBR, its easy to do in acronis true image.

Find the ISO burn it, boot from it on old computer, clone your OS partition and boot partition, and MBR, onto a external HDD

connect external HDD to new computer boot from acronis CD on new computer, restore back up image onto new computer SSD/HDD.

Are you trying to use the 3tb drive as boot drive now? There is a limit on the size of the hard drive you can use a boot partition (sort off there are work around), like putting 2 partition on the drive.

read this

that’s the best link i could find in 30s but should point you in the wright direction if that’s the problem.
