You should crossfire with another 480. Doing 480+470 is possible but it's definitely not gonna be as good. And since 480s start at $170 sometimes or less with rebates, I see no reason not to grab another one :)

Now there's the question of will you even benefit from 2 480s. You would only do so in 1440p+ or for 144Hz+ monitors.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I currently game in 1080p ultrawide 60hz, but in some games (andromeda, witcher 3, deus ex) i drop below 60. So i think itll still be worth it.

You could probably just turn AA a notch lower or a (couple of) graphical setting as if you only have a 500watt PSU, you'd probably need a new PSU as well which drives the price up even more :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

I don't know. I have a 1080p monitor as well, and at least for TW3 which is a game I own, you can definitely hit 60 constant without sacrificing much detail quality at all by tweaking settings (the easiest one is to go to the AMD control panel and setting maximum tessellation samples to 4x or 8x). Or your CPU could be holding you back as some parts of TW3 like Novigrad City are very CPU heavy (what CPU do you have?).

I think if you do get the other 480, you should budget for a monitor that can take advantage of that and get it eventually. Also you should try to beat some benchmark scores :D

i5 6402p (1ghz overclocked 6400). i only have a 650 watt psu but it should be fine since 480s take around 200 watts each when overclocked. Im planning to upgrade my motherboard soon anyways so it isnt a problem

What PSU? I actually wouldn't let you do 2 480s on a 650W PSU unless it's at least decent to good

Get the 480. If you use a 470 it is just going to slow down your 480 and close a stream (unless you unlocked the 470 and oc it).

There aren't any 80+ Silver EVGA PSUs though ;)

Yes, we need to know the model number and brand. For that even a photo of the PSU would suffice, we have knowledgeable people in these forums

FSP Raider Silver is pretty bad, I would change it if you want to pull anywhere over 500W from it.

aw :( would two 480s really take that much? I mean i gave them 200w each but in reality theyll never pull more than 160, and 320 still leaves quite a bit left for the mb and cpu

Weeeeeeellll I suppose you could connect both of them and they would run. Especially if you don't overclock them. But I wouldn't rely on that PSU for long, it could give problems.

Unfortunately, with the rest of your system, yes. If you allocate 400 to the gpu, and your psu is putting out 485, that's 85 for the rest of the system. I have a 700 watt Ultra Gold (No longer made, cheap Tiger Direct, but got lucky). It puts out around 600 (Which is about avg for gold. 85% of watts).

Well I think you should keep the FSP until you can afford yourself another PSU. There are good 600W options for $50 like the Seasonic S12II (620W)

I'd get a decent cheap PSU instead of another low wattage PSU and then having to buy another one when that Raider dies (if it does).
