Evga z170 Post Code 62

just put my components together :

CPU: i5 7600k

Mobo:EVGA z170 FTW

RAM: G.skill NT Value Memory

GPU:gtx 1060

Im getting post code 62, please help!

looks like it's this: "Installation of the PCH Runtime Services" might have failed. Some mobos have to have a BIOS update before they'll work with Kaby Lake (I'm assuming you've got a shiny new i5)

I'd try taking everything out, then putting it back carefully, making sure everything is in correctly. then try again. if it won't work, you'll have to update the BIOS, or contact customer support. If it's brand new, they should help you fix it or replace it as soon as possible. Just be very clear that you need it fixed right away.

Go to the evga site and select in the support tab the bios&drivers part.

Then select your mobo and download the bios version you want (idealy not the beta branch).

 

Format an usb stick and plop the bios in there and off you go to your build and either boot from the stick (not sure if that's even still done these days) or hop into bios and update from there and be happy that you have a bios with a gui^^

 

 

BUT, before all that start by pulling step by step everything out of your mobo (any pci cards, graphics cards, ram, nvme drive, all the lovly cables that go to your drives and other peripheral stuff)

 

The code 62 means that there was a "southbridge runtime" error ... basically something isn't playing nice with your bios or isn't plugged in like it should be.

(usually not a problem with the mobo itself)
