Hey folks

Wondering if you can help me with a fault that is plaguing my old PC (now used by my brother). For no reason what so ever it is failing to boot and listing BOOTMGR missing after posting. It did this a few weeks ago and I resolved the issue by reinstalling Windows, however it has just happened again, I figured twice in as many weeks is too often to be coincidence. The 2nd time it happened brother claimed the PC just bluescreened and then failed to boot.

Does anybody know what would cause this to happen semi-frequently? I assume it is some form of hardware fault, potentially with storage, however the OS install is on a new-ish (2015) Crucial M.2 SSD.

I had this same problem on my old computer. I figured out that ram errors caused it to deleted the problem for some reason.

  • 1 month later...

Ehm, still looking for advice, after a month of working fine it has just happened again. Doesn't seem to be anything specific triggering it, just all of a sudden he turns his PC on and the BootMGR is missing, I'm driving over to his later today to reinstall windows again, trying a win10 copy this time. I have even turned it back to its stock clock to try an eliminate any OCing related issues.

if you have a windows dvd or something, and you boot to that, there is an option at the bootom left of the screen labled "repair my computer". from there, click startup repair and that should fix it. no need to reinstall windows.
