Everything is standard, so you will need:

  • An AMD CPU
  • A compatible motherboard (I believe you're looking for one with an AM4 socket)
  • DDR4 RAM (8GB or more)
  • An AMD GPU (I'd suggest RX480)
  • A Power supply (500W or more)
  • An SSD (I would always build a computer with an SSD these days. I'd suggest 250GB if you're on a budget)
  • A HDD if you want more storage (Probably 1TB)
  • A case which fits your motherboard
  • A copy of Windows 10 (Or whatever OS you want)

I edit my posts a lot.

step 1: everything is red. intel fanboy blood is red.

step 2: find $1000. intel fanboys kidneys are worth much more.

step 3: buy & build amd based intel killing machine to steal intel fanboy's kidneys

step 4: enjoy

my serious suggestion is to use a 1700 not the others. get a rx480 if you dont want to wait for newer cards. you might want to wait for the lower core ryzen chips for gaming. get high ram speed.

I'm not sure if the reason you're going AMD is a good one (cause buying it just based on a brand is not a good reason) you indeed need around 1000$:

This is far from optimal, but it's decent. (Swap the RX 480 for the RX 580 which launches in a week or so, should cost around the same and/or Ryzen R7 1700 for the R5 1600 if you don't need more CPU performance)

If you have bigger budget get better motherboard, cooling and PSU/storage.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

A new version of the rx 480 which should have better overclocking is comming in the 11th.

I recommend the 1700 (8 cores) for 340~ or the 1600(6 cores) for 220~. In the graphics card arena theres two good options the 480 and  the 470 both are good value (while the 480 is more expensive)

Not sure if you want a high end gaming pc, if you do, you dont have much radeon to choose from on high end.

If you want, just wait for June which should be the date they will announce VEGA (high end AMD GPU)
