Get a gigabit PCI card either that or the connect isn't a gigabit due to overhead

I don't have much experience with network cards, but I used a TP-LINK card in a build once and it worked completely fine, no driver or compatibility problems whatsoever and it used the full internet speed. That's all I can contribute,

This should do the job : http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TG-3468-1000Mbps-Gigabit-Express/dp/B003CFATNI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384537951&sr=8-1&keywords=Gigabit+PCI+Express+Network+Adapter+TG-3468

Your motherboard does have a gigabit port the : Atheros GbE LAN chip (10/100/1000 Mbit), so try updating drivers or something...

I would recommend and Intel NIC. They perform well and have lifetime warranties.

Gigabit internet

problems

are not two phrases I'd expect to see used in the same sentence often.

That is an excellent NIC, i use them for everything.

with overhead, you can probably expect only around 600-700 with most gigabit connections (idk why overhead is so much)

I also have gigabit internet and i get mid to low 900s.
