Hi Guys,

I am getting rid of my very old (9 years) computer. which runs on quad core 2 @ 2.4 Ghz processor with an intel DG33 FB motherboard with 4 GB (2 sticks) DDR2 ram. so here I am planning to build a new PC.

1. Budget & Location

I am from India and I am planning to buy the PC in US via Amazon. I can spend up to $700 USD. I can marginally increase my budget if required.

2. Aim

I mainly use my system for day to day activity like web browsing, listening to music, watching movies and on the professional front I would like build VM's and test the enterprise software's. I don't necessarily run the VM's  day in and day out. But I will build new VM when a new version of an application is released or when I am learning new tools/technology, rest of the days its just going to be more of a personal computer. so I don't think I should go for xenon processor, considering the no. of desktop application I will be using. so I prefer a i7 based system with little extra power so that i get a balanced output of both desktop/server like performance.

3. Monitors

I am planing to use only one full HD monitor. 6 months ago I replaced my old monitor with an AOC i2369VM in purchased in India. if it comes to upgrade I might upgrade my monitor to an 4K monitor if gets cheaper and affordable. also at times I might be connecting my PC to my 4k TV (not just yet, planning to buy later this year or next year).

4. Peripherals

I am not planning to buy any new peripherals. I am planning to run the PC on windows but not planning to buy it as I already have it.

5. Why are you upgrading?

well I have answered this question in the first few lines itself. please share your valuable feedback.

so here is my build please suggest if it looks good or it needs any change

PS: I am creating a new post as my other post is the getting attention I guess its due to new posts posted every minute in this forum. Also I am not against AMD but its just that Intel suits better to indian tropical condition.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/AusDaes/saved/3JTWZL I dont know if e link works, but still: it has the i7 6700k (no need to upgrade to the 7700k) then it has 8gb of ram ,gt 720 (not perfect for gaming but good for your needs) it has 1250 gb (1tb hdd and a 250gb sdd becausd it will be better for vm)  and also the case, you dont need that one, but its the cheapest one, also all of this is 703 usd

I don't plan on gaming in this PC so I don't need a unlocked CPU or a GPU

Then i think is build is good for you but change the 6700k to a 6700 you will save money.

Edit

I changed the cpu and added a simple gpu (amd rx460) which will be better for vm

I am not concerned about the power consumption but I am rather worried about its performance under extreme head and humid condition.

There is no difference between amd or intel on that, espially considering that the motherboard has solid vrm for cooling

They will be compatible, there is no such problem, they run on the same OS ( Windows  10)

then I guess I will give it a thought considering the lesser price point, would you also recommend me a GPU for less to moderate gaming.

For content creation, light gaming, the rx 460 with 4gbs ram, if the software you use  can take advantage  of cuda acceleration,  a gtx 1050-1050ti
