Need help troubleshooting....

Hi guys,

 

So I have an issue on my hands here. I just bought a 7700k and msi z270 gaming m5 motherboard. For the first two weeks, everything worked flawlessly. Used XMP to OC my ram to 3000hz and overclocked my cpu to 4.8 at 1.25 volts without any issues. NOW, all of a sudden things aren't as blissful and it all started as soon as I plugged in my second monitor(although I'm very skeptical that that could be the problem). NOW, I crash every time from games and blue screen from time to time whenever I try to play anything. I've upped the voltage on my cpu to 1.30 and 1.31 and I still crash. 4.8 at those voltages pass an OCCT test for 10 hours. I just turned off XMP to see if that would do anything so that my ram speed was at the defaulted 2133 and I still crashed. 

 

4.8 on my cpu was very stable at 1.25 for two weeks and then it wasn't...it was also stable at 1.275 for a few weeks once I crashed a few times at 1.25. NOW, it crashes all the time at 1.31. Is this still not enough voltage even though it passes an OCCT test for 10 hours? What could be the problem here? Faulty CPU/mobo/ram? Just for giggles, I ran my cpu at 4.2(default speed) with an auto voltage and I was actually able to play through an entire game.

Gtx 1080

MSI z270 gaming m5

EVGA 750w P2 psu

 

Where should I go from here?

Have you tried swapping out the gpu to see if that is the issue?

I have not tried as I don't have an extra gpu lying around, unfortunately.

Hmmm. From my understanding it might be a GPU issue as you stated it all started happening when you plugged in your second monitor. Try using the built in graphics on your mobo and play a low demanding game to see if it still blues creeps and crashes.

happened to me i just used ddu to uninstall and reinstall drivers and it worked fine

The same thing as in your CPU suddenly became unstable or when you plugged in a second monitor?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and I put my core voltage at 1.35 at 4.8 and I crashed immediately upon entering a game...I also got rid of my second monitor so it isn't a gpu issue either.
