Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro

djdelarosa25

I'm running Windows 10 Home on my laptop and I have a spare copy of Windows 7 Pro with a key lying around. If I do a clean install of Win 7 Pro, would I be able to upgrade to a genuine copy of Windows 10 Pro?

Expand the "Using this tool to upgrade this pc" tab under the install tool download button. It says if you have Win 7 Pro, it will upgrade to Win 10 Pro. I'd say download the too, create a bootable USB for Win 10 Pro, and activate it after the install with your Win 7 Pro key. It should be the same as upgrading your PC, as Windows just reads the key from your computer. I used a Win 7 Home Key from my Dad's out of commision laptop to activate my Win 10 Home install. On completely different PC.
