Need HELP PLEASE

Alright so I just bought a new monitor along with all the necessary stuff to build my own pc and while i'm waiting on the last couple parts I thought I would use the new monitor for my chromebook. So I use an HDMI to hook up my chromebook to the monitor and it works great looks clear but after anywhere form 5 to 20 minutes the monitor screen goes gray and when i open my chromebook back up nothing is wrong but the monito stays grey. So I restart the chromebook and then i works again. repeat. repeat. So is it a problem with the hdmi 2.0, my chromebook, or the monitor because if it is the monitor I need to return it while i can. NOTE: I thought since chromebooks aren't really meant for high usage that I was possibly overloading it because I have and rgb keyboard, rgb mouse , a mic, and headset hooked up to it all at once plus docking into the monitor. Now I tried just using the keyboard and mouse and it still did.

the cable? sounds like a defective cable possibly

ok ill try a another hdmi that i know works it is a new hdmi that I was using

no that didn't help i pulled an hdmi i have been using for the last year and it did the same thing

I plugged my xbox in for about 20 min and it was fine so I think its the chromebook

I tried another cable and it did the same thing. I tried plugging my xbox into the monitor and it was fine so I think it's the chromebook.
