Speaker Trouble.

I plugged my headphones into the front audio jack of my pc, and when I plug my speakers in to the back audio jack at the same time, they both play at the same time and they are not separated, any ideas?

And how exactly did you plan to separate a signal from itself?

While physically different they get the same signal.

no generally the ones in back are muted when front plugged in.

Which is an option turned on by default.

If you have a Realtek chipset, then there is an option in the audio manager. If you have a different chipset then there's probably a setting somewhere.
