Regular formatting can kill a SSD?

I am buying a laptop for trying different distros of linux. I will be installing and uninstalling the OS once in 2 months. And I will be trying almost 20 to 25 distros of linux. So, regularly formatting can kill the SSD?

nope, i would quick format though as that wont write garbage to the drive (that may decrease lifespan).

A full zeroing is unlikely to cause damage to an SSD. Most SSDs have hundreds of terabytes written (TBW) endurance before NAND begins to die off and putting a 120/240/etc GBs of writing is unlikely to matter with that much life.

I would use a hard drive for testing the 20 - 25 distros.  Replace with ssd once you know which one

I have reinstalled Windows and Linux on my 120GB 840 EVO probably nearly two dozen times and I have yet to hit even 2TB of writes. You'll be fine lol

It means I can do that. There will be less effect on the lifespan of the SSD. Thanks guys.

i would just use virtual machines to test so many different distros.
