Strange Steam Error?

After using TriDef 3D* I am getting this error on my steam games. "An error occured while updating -insert game-" or "the system could not find the environment option that was entered" and the first one I stated.

Could anybody help?

verified the game files? research also shows it could be a hdd with bad sectors.

Nah I had to reinstall steam for it to work.
