Hello, I am trying to boot off my ubuntu USB stick but I have run into a problem. So the BiOS has something that I would call a 'two-layer' boot priority  (there's probably a proper name for it). So the first layer I choose the order of the groups (CD-ROM, HDD< Floppy, or Network boot), and under the HDD group I can choose either between my Seagate HDD or 'CBM USB 2.0' (which I believe is my USB stick). This is what it looks like

So I set it so that the first device in the list is the HDD group which is set to CBM USB 2.0. The problem is that when I press f10 and save and exit, it doesn't actually save the boot order and the next time I go into my bios my Seagate drive is back in the first position in the HDD group. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Nice clickbait signature. My screen isn't wide enough to open them all.

Is the battery of your motherboard dead? (probably not, if it can display the time properly)

nope. I have a feeling its just me not properly saving it but I can't think of anything I'm missing

Them "cursor" thingies can be a bit unclear, with only white and blue. What you might consider to be "yes" (during saving), might have "no" selected. Try not to save/see what happens.

*while typing I don't think this is the issue, because it will probably not shut down or anything like that*

I also wonder... Did you unplug that USB stick between those BIOS changes? Because it might not have detected that USB stick, and thus have it removed from the boot order list... (and added again after you plugged it back in, but at the lower order in the boot list)

*PS: can't really check my own BIOS for these options, because I would have to turn my pc off, and well... #nopoweronbuttonmasterrace and #pcisalwaysonmasterrace.

no. it has been plugged into the motherboard the entire time. bios recognizes 3 usb devices (my keyboard, mouse and the usb stick) and when I boot up of the HDD I can access the USB drive too.

It does have like a heart thing next to it.

Does it store/save ANY changes at all? Can you change the date for example, save it, reboot and check? (don't go into windows, as it might sync again using them internet timez, which are always off a few seconds)

If you can't even change your date/time, I would think that your BIOS chip might be broken. You COULD do a BIOS upgrade/firmware upgrade/bios flash, whatever it's called, and hope you can save again. If this doesn't fix your issue, I've got no clues left to give.

it did save the date when I changed it. I'll try an update but i'll have to figure out the model of the board. Thanks for your help tho

umm, so I fixed the date and time cuz it was off a couple days and hours and I got this screen when I saved.
