Portable ebook viewer

I have a laptop with a faulty hard drive so I need to find an epub/mobi viewer that doesn't install on the harddrive or does anything on the harddrive but just launches from the USB drive.

Does such thing even exist?

you have to beable to enter the bios but most laptops have the bios lock DOWN!

I know you can use Ubuntu straight from the USB drive so this is probably possible.

I have been reading books on this laptop for over a year with a non-functioning hard drive but the problem now is that I have a lot of books with epub and mobi format, If I try to install anything it will freeze upon cyclic redundancy check error.

Replace the drive before it's too late to get anything off of it.

I don't want to replace the drive, laptop is only good for passive reading anyway, there is no other use for it.

It will go to garbage once the screen gives up.

Tou can boot off a usb unless set in the bios which is LOCKDOWN!
