I am trying to install virtualbox for my class at school but when I do I get this error

but when I check what packages I have heald it says I havent heald any

you install the opensource version of virtual box using

apt install virtualbox

if you want a different version from the one in the repo then you need to get it off orarcle's web site

https://www.virtualbox.org/

and following these instructions

ok so the error above means you have missing dependencies. the error you posted above lists all the ones you need to install.

also do this before you install virtualbox:

sudo apt-get install dkms

its much easier to just use the one from the debian repos. There are missing features in the open source version, you can google for those

apt install virtualbox

I just downloaded the deb file from that page instead of trying to get apt-get to work
