I find it funny, That Creating a Computer to display Video is SUCH a hassle..

It all has to go thru the CPU, and then decode on the video card..

There used to be a video pass thru on the cards to watch DVD/CD movies on your computer.

I see Security recorders that can do High res, 4- 16 channels, 15-60fps, on something between a 486 and a P2..

Try taking an OLDER machine, about a Celeron, and making a Video display/movies/Audio player with it..

try Kodi/xbmc, what ever...Current video's SUCK..  using Linux or Windows, isnt good, and GUESS what works better...ANDROID..

What is wrong with this?

I like the idea of setting up an OLD laptop as a Multimedia device, but the Win/Tel hardware seems to really suck.

The New Intel Optane, is interesting and its been mentioned that Windows hardware IS not the fastest hardware to run it..

MOSTLY COMMENT and asking WHY just to display a Picture video it takes Processing power..

Why not throw the video at the Video card and have IT do the work..insted of the CPU..

Lets ask INTEL, what they could do to HELP windows hardware..

MS declined going to Parallel processing in about 2000..
