im a coming into some money by early q2 through a couple of things ill get about $1400 nzd as a budget for pc parts. so should i upgrade my platform form haswell to skylake wich will cost a significant amount more or stay on my current setup and start my custom loop less and get a couple of vega cards in cfx as they should be out by the time ive secured the money. also could somone give me a part list of what i could get within my 1400nzd budget bear in mind i have an i7 now and will not settle for less than that.

haswell to skylake is pointless, the two big upgrades from haswell are Ryzen and X99

Kaby Lake* is hardly faster per core *but hits 5ghz, needs to be delidded though for best results

Ryzen just gets you more cores

pick your poison

If you do go ryzen an R7 1700 and ASrock B350 PRO or Fatal1ty K4 is the best bang for your buck atm it seems

just be sure to get Samsung B-Die memory

the fact that IPC is like 5 percent extra in skylake+a few almost useless gimmicky features

4790 is nice enough, 6700k or 7700k doesn't have a massive improvement over it. Get Vega or pascal

it's not pointless, but the differences for the money you pay aren't that much worth it

I would wait for Intel's next platform and then make a decision

Are you gaming at 144hz doing competitive gaming?

With Proper RAM Ryzen gets going a fair amount faster, of course that's more X370 Gaming 7 or Taichi territory, but obviously the R7 will wreck the i7 in anything that fully utilizes it's threads

3200mhz ish should be fine though for the most part if you can get it all working

Also, for me anyways it doesn't make much sense to go from 4c/8t to slightly faster 4c/8t

Even a 480 is a pretty decent upgrade right now from a 770, won't do Ultra/high at 144fps, but it'll be more than fine for AAA games at 1080p, your CPU will limit you from 144fps in some games anyways

just grab like a gaming X, nitro, or preferably an XFX GTR/HIS 8GB card, should be able to hit 1400mhz

Not 100% needed for 1080p 144hz though, probably grab the lower end of the stack if anything

Read over the thread, the testing was disproven due to the inconsistencies of testing vs other reliable sources. 14.00% is a falsified claim, period.

really?! it was actually proven - might wanna read that thread again and the original source

Anand's results are quite inconsistent with people's results - this could be because of numerous factors, one batch of tests were done on W7 while others on W8 or W8.1

the tests in the source were all done on W10

if you have a problem with my treads, sir, why are you reading them?

I have, subscribed as well, also might i point out that over four pages people had requested you to mention other sources of which you had replied saying "not wasting my time" - please do show me the proven legitimacy. Might i note doing testing over a multitude of tests ranging from PROsumer workloads to gaming and combining these results into one is an inaccurate means of creating an average due the differences of resources. On a latter note i would love to see how and why those test results don't stack up against other testers and furthermore why, when doing the maths, 14.00% doesn't and wouldn't match up when comparing intel  A to intel  B architecture say haswell to KabyLake and Ryzen (being the same as Haswell) having a different percentage - also note in that testing he had stated that KabyLake had an IPC gain, which we know isn't true.

you don't even understand what you read ...

if you want to continue this pointless debate please do it over the appropriate thread, not here; and please add facts not impressions

this is the last time I reply to your bullcrap
