I'm fortunate enough to live in an area where there are a lot of LAN events going on within a reasonable driving distance at any given time. Unfortuantely, I'm not well off enough to justify building two gaming machines. So I'm needing something robust enough to qualify as a primary machine, yet portable enough to be hauled to LAN's often. This is what I came up with. Let me know what you think! Input is greatly appreciated!

hope u take a 1440p monitor with u. what a beast of a rig.
id becareful if u overclock anything. even the 780ti. 500 watts is kinda scary.

have u considered a case with a handle on it? might be easier to lug around lans and such

That will probably be the next big purchase. Trying to get all these Korean monitors sorted out and see what I like.

I have. I already have to mod the 80mm Noctua into the back of the chassis for exhaust, so I figure while I was at it I would tap some larger threaded hols into the case and attach a handle. We'll get it all sorted out in due time.

maybe put a handle on the back, wont looks as ugly, but why even bother, the hadron is SO small, just carry it under your arm?

yes, max height is 140mm and that one is 120mm, it only has 92mm fans on it

Was planning to try to watercool it, but it just wont work. Not enough clearance in the roof for a 240mm rad. You can mod an Alpha Cool 160mm into the back, but that wouldnt be sufficieint enough to cool a CPU and GPU. I'm sure someone out there more creative (and not as lazy!) could get it to work.

And yes, that cooler will fit. This case accepts coolers UP TO 140mm in heighth, and this 92mm cooler is 125mm tall.

EDIT: What he said ^^^

ok then. But I would still get a h80i or h100i in that budget and in that case. it would look better :)

Get another case, Hadron isn't a good choice. You could get a similiary sized Prodigy with handles and your own PSU.

I'd bump down to a 780... that psu is going to be stretched with the 780 Ti and the card's not that good of a value anyway.

I wouldn't call the Hadron similarly sized the Prodigy at all...

VpuKkTzh.jpg

It's bigger, that's true, but still small and it has handles for easier transport.

Most important thing here is the PSU, he can pick his own one.

The Hadron is so much smaller it doesn't need handles.

This. When it's all said and done, I can literally put it in my back pack. I'm not worrying too much about handles.

Why are you then even getting OC components that cost mailand compared to more of an "average" components, if you can't OC at all because of the PSU limit.

What would you consider "OC components"? If you look at the wattage estimate on the part picker list it's coming in around 385 watts or so. I would think headroom of over 100 watts on your PSU would be sufficient for minor OC's. This is will be a small, air cooled machine that will probably run warm because of these factors. I don't think it's the best OC'ing platform and it's not intended to be. The intention is to build the best performing, most portable gaming machine I can.

Although the system might handle a minor oc, I think not being able to utilize the power you're paying for makes getting a 780 Ti look like a worse value than it already is.

This is a criticism I can understand, and previous comments had me thinking the same. A regular 780 or even a 290 might be more suitable for this application.

Personally, I'd wait for aftermarket 290's and grab one instead of a 780 for the vram/memory bus.
