Help choosing graphics card

So im helping my friend choose a graphics card and he thinks he should get the AMD R7 240 4GB but i told him he should get the Nvidia GTX 1050 2GB i was wondering if i have made a good choice or if there are better cards in the 70-$110 range

For 20ish more you can get 1050 Ti

R7 240 is old af

See some used card too

Or stick with 1050

For that price range, I'd say 1050 is the way to go.

240 is a huge waste of money.
