i'm using optical fiber (20 Mbps)

i'll look into it even more, thanks

I should have specified, 10Gb copper throughout the home on the LAN side of things. You'll always be limited by the speed provided by your ISP for getting out of the network.

hey, i'm planning to use my old router as a range extender and i was just wondering which type of ethernet cable would work well.

the new router is in the 1st floor and my room is in the 2nd floor, i want to keep the old router outside my room so that the living room benefits from it as well. i measured the length of cable needed and it amounted to about 10m but i want to buy at least 15m of cable in order to have a wider wiggle room ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and so that i can freely choose where i want to keep it.

long question short, should i get cat5 or cat6 in order to utilize most of the speed possible?

thanks in advance

i'll check the prices, thank you

same performance?

Cat6 cable is technically able to handle 10Gbps for a short distance while Cat5e is not rated for such performance, but I doubt you have or will be using 10Gb copper anytime soon so the performance is going to be the same, 1Gbps as the max either way you go :)
