Pc wont boot from hdd

Changed jumpers? Are you using an IDE hard drive?

Is this an old computer? There's no need to use IDE in anything remotely modern.

Depends. Check if your system supports USB boot, if not then definitely a CD.

Depending on what OS you're running, you can either boot into a recovery media, run check disk, or use FDISK to check partitions etc. 

 

Boot into command, select drive letter (C:) then run 'chkdsk /f'

 

Need more info on system really, haha

 

I'd highly recommend getting an IDE to SATA adaptor, and getting a mate to rip off all your data before doing anything, just incase the drive is dying.

Why? That machine should boot from a USB, so you can make sure it will at least boot from something.
