Noob hard lines

Go to solution Solved by MVPernula,

The tubing, in my eyes, don't look that bad!

I actually like having a bit of difference when it comes to perfectly alined rigid tubing, this was nice.

THe colors though.. Not my piece of cake.

So I wanted to undertake a water cooling pc build. I allready have an air cooled i5 4600k and a gtx 760 2gb and its runs my games almost as nice as id like but good enough.

My girlfriend is allways using and sharing my pc taking turns while one of us gamed on her 7 year old Toshiba satellite( its not fun) and it limits what games we could play together.

We decided she needed her own pc and that it Had to be green( *rolls eyes* its her favorite color).

So I built this monstrosity as sure many will see it but it does what it needs to.

We both have our own machines, hers is green and I got to my water cooling project which I was itching to do for a long time. Now I know it doesnt look great, its only a temporary scratch of a much larger itch. But as it runs now we have:

i7 6700k. (20c-46c idle-fullload  at stock speeds ~ upgrade from my i5 4600k)

Msi z170 9ack gaming mobo ( newer than my chip set and im in love with its functionality; bios is great, onboard dac is resulting in the best audio quality iv ever dealt with and the onboard lan/wan is great too)

Msi gtx 1050 2gb oc  its a side grade from my 760, my 760 makes better colors and the 1050 seems either to dark or bright in many situations( maybe it needs fine tuning) but the performance of the 1050 wins the fans hardly ever turn on and its so freaking small and light compared to the 760 no more worrisome gpu sag. And my frames improved over the 760 and now we can both play Overwatch at the same time( pretty sure an i7 coulda handled it own its own but the game wouldnt let us try before without a gpu in her laptop. Hate on a 2gb 1050 all you want but its even playing doom with lowest fps being 59 so im happy with the cheap part)

Corsair vengeance 32gb 3000mhz set( 16 of the 32 gb currently installed and at stock speeds but dont worry im still installing the other two dimms just wanted to see how the system ran while bloating it with applications with just 16 so I could see the difference personally, iv ran a system with only 8gb before and I often used it all andnit was no fun, as it turns out I can hardy use 12gb so the 32 is overkill w/e also yes they have annoying white flashing leds  I dont like but obviously I didnt look very hard because this was the cheapest 32 gb set I found on amazon at the time.

Psu is a seasonic 80 plus platinum because that what I allways use and I trust it(850 watt I think...)

Case is the thermaltake core p5 becase I allready owned one and wanted to build another without taking mine apart just yet( also my girlfriend wanted a green machine, seriously thats all she cared about).

My rooms dirty and I use alot of canned air but I live the idea of open chassis design and versa mounts,  no cat knocking over my machines.

And the cpu heat sink is thermaletakes all in one 360 soft tube cooling kit of which I tosed the 6 fittings and got my own monsoons plus hard lines( geting lines and fittings that fit was a head ache.

Os is on a samsung evo and iv got a couple other drives but m.2 is yet to come.

All fittings, coolant and cables are subject to change, and currently looking for suggestions as to what to get from cable mod.

Oh, its an eye sore all right, I simply grabbed what I found and after I had it all I thought the same thing, need to replace alot of the fittings( which is fine ill reuse them in my case which is black and red anyways) but the mobo and gpu, im a lil bit scared to paint em, seen linus have a lil trouble with painting a gpu before and well my diy skills are pitiful.

Make Your runs horizontal and vertical. That there looks like a mess. Make coolant match the green on the case. Change all fittings to black. Change the motherboard to something all black or black with green accents if possible. And a   480 rad will look better than your current 360

Regardless how it came out, kudos for taking the plunge and doing a hard line loop.

I'd just paint the red accents a matching green. Paining the mobo is actually easy, those red parts are all easily detachable. And while you have it apart, adjust the length in the runs in a way to get them all to be at right angles, parallel and perpendicular to each other etc.

I do want to change the red fittings to black(save them for my other rig when its time comes for hardlines) and I dont like the finish on the green ones at all, ended up shinny and not flat so they dont match anything.

How ever I am going to wait to bend new pipes for when I have the new fittings. Just dont wanna take it apart twice.

As for the rad I wish I placed it lower with the pump higher but the room underneath makes using my drain valve a lot more accessible and I really like that, also its a thicker rad and my temps stay low.

But will I Need to upgrade to a 480 when I add the mobo and the future gpu to the loop? Sights aside because the spacing under the 360 is just convenient.

360 will be enough. 480 Will make it run a bit cooler and quieter
