    Yo, first timer here.

1. Budget & Location

    My budget is around $500 US. In Florida, if I need to get more specific about it.

    I have a few parts that I'm looking to scavenge from my old pc, so they don't have to be included into the budget, provided the new parts will accommodate them.

16X DVD +/- RW DRIVE

4 GB DDR3 SDRAM (2x2 GB) 1333 N-ECC (I believe it's a 240 pin)

500 GB Western Digital (7200 RPM) NCQ serial ATA Hard Drive w/ 16MB Data burst cache

I'd like to add/replace the hard drive and ram in the future after my pc is up and running, so some advice on that would be much welcomed.

2. Aim

   My aim is to build a gaming pc. It would be great if I was able to play those new high end games with a min of 30 fps, but I'll primarily be playing mobas, such as Smite. I'd like to be able to stream as well, so it'd be nice if the system permitted me plugging in a capture card or whatever later on.

   The family got surprisingly enthusiastic about the matter when I talked about building myself a new pc, so I'd like it if the case had a see through panel of some sort, so that I could show off the inner workings without taking it off.

3. Monitors

   My old monitor, a Samsung SyncMaster SA350 (1920x1080 resolution), is still in good working condition, so I'll be using that. It would be nice if I had the option of adding more monitors later on, but it is definitely not a requirement.

4. Peripherals

   I'll likely have to get a new keyboard, mouse, and OS but there is no need to include that in the budget. Though I'd love to hear about the feasibility of using the windows OS already on my hard drive for my new system. None of the popular pc building youtubers talk about it, as far as I know, but what I've researched on the matter is rather mixed.

5. Why are you upgrading?

   The integrated graphics card on my previous pc, a gift, died. No display at all. I figured I'd just buy a better graphics card and pop it in there but, as I'm sure you experienced users know, I quickly realized it wasn't that simple upon further research.

I'm kinda surprised that no one answered you yet, but you should wait for Ryzen 5 launch (11APRIL) which if is better then go for that, log into pcpartspicker.com and search for the budget pc build in the forum search bar, as there have been multiple $500 or less project topics, in just few hours that's why you're not answered.

This has everything included and is the most balanced build, it has even a 240gb ssd so the system is super snappy, i put in even the os ( from kinguin) as you won't be able to take it from your older hhd ( that you can use as mass storage )

This pc will give you 60 fps at 1080 in 90% of the games with the settings tuned to high/very high.

Change to this configuration

-The case: the s340  is very nice  and you can choose the colors, but you can go with the deepcool tesseract, that cost just 37$ and still has a window, but imho is uglier and less refined  ( but you save 30$)

- not buy the ssd, and save 65$, but the system will be slow ( when you try an ssd you won't  never come back

- buy an h110 motherbord, you will save 25$, but you have to ask the reseller if it has updated BIOS for kaby lake, and it can be quite an assle (imho not worth it over the b250)

- you can spend those saved money on an rx 480, right now the cheaper that is not crap sell for as low as 190€, but imho it is not worth it  over the rx 470: for 10-15% more performance you pay almost 50% more ( the rx 470 that i put there is very good and cost only 132$)

Hope that it helped

   Thank you for the responses. How is this build so far? I've been on it for some hours.

   I didn't include the motherboard in there because I don't know which ones are compatible with the ryzen 5, which I figure I'll go ahead and wait for. PSU for the same reason.

   SSDs seem pretty useful, but that can be added later on, right? I'd rather spend the bulk of my budget on things more critical to the operation of the system itself.

You should price out some Ram.. the Ryzen 5 will be running on new chipsets which only support DDR4 Ram.

The chipset for Ryzen 5 is the AM4, so any AM4 chipset boards will be compatible w/ Ryzen  5 CPU's.

SSD's can be added later, but having it day 1 allows you to have it as the boot drive (makes it faster than any HDD when booting up), and allows you to set up the drives easier, otherwise you'd have to go back into the bios later and move the drives around and reinstall windows on the SSD and move all the files you want (games, Steam, etc.) over to the SSD. You don't need a massive SSD, just enough for windows and some games you want to boot up fast (one's you play often).

I'd definitely factor in a PSU into your build, since that is basically the foundation of the whole PC. Buy a crappy 1, have your PC fail and parts damaged. There is a Tier List in the PSU sub-forum. Since you are using it daily/regular basis, aim for Tier 3.

Current System Specs:

CPU: Intel I5-7660K; CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212X; Thermal Paste: IC Diamond 7 Carat; Motherboard: MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon;

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8gb) DDR4 - 2400; SSD Storage: 1TB Samsung 850 EVO; Storage: 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm;

GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1070 8gb G1 Gaming; Case: NZXT Phantom 530 Black; PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 650W 80+ Gold, OS: Windows 10 Home

   Advice noted. I priced out a couple of different builds. One going along with my original intention of reusing my ram in an effort to save money, and the other being compatible with the Ryzen 5.

   Looking at the prices, I'll probably end up going with the Ryzen build, as it wont cost much more, as well as being more power efficient. Thank you for the help! :D
