1700 or 1800x?

I'm planning a Ryzen build for my home computer which I do content creator work on via Adobe Creative Suite.  I am not planning to overclocking anything so I was wondering if the 1700 is going to be the better buy at 329.00 or is the 1800x a better solution (even without overclocking) for my workflow.

Ryzen 1700 out of the box will OC to 3.7Ghz. not worth 150$ more for 0.2 Ghz boost. Jays2cents did a video where ryzen completes a 4k video in like...i think 25 minutes?

What Zeus said.  The 1700 has been shown to overclock very well - however now that we are aware the 1700x and 1800x report temps 20°C higher than they actually are there may be a little bit more room for headroom since people were probably thinking oh the chip is hitting 75 and that's tjmax when tjmax is actually higher after the reported temp change is factored in.  This temp change will probably be adjusted in future software tho to report correctly though.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.
