Hi guys, I am planning to build myself a PC. I was hoping to ask your help (and experience) on spotting potential bottlenecks or incompatibility. Here's the setup:

PROCESSOR : i5-6600k

MOBO: MSI B250M Mortar

CPU Cooler : CM Hyper 212x

GPU : GTX 1070 G1

PSU : Corsair CX500M 80+ Bronze

RAM. : DDR4 SODIMM Crucial 1 x 8Gb 2133mhz

Case : nZXT S340

Extra coolers : 2x 120mm Fans

HDD. : 1TB + my old HDD (will get an SSD Later, can someone point me to the right direction?)

DVDRW: ASUS 24x

Your help will be very much welcome. Thank you!!!

The build is around the GTX 1070.

First of all, you can't use SODIMMs on desktop boards without an adapter

You don't need a Hyper 212X on a B250 board, go for 6700 locked and a cheaper board.

Get a better PSU, Seasonic S12ii as an example.

Where are you located if I may ask?

idk

Thanks for the quick response.

I will be using it for some 3D Stuff like CAD, Solid Works and CATIA (I am an engineering student)

And I will also be using it for Gaming ofcourse.

@nerdslayer1 Can help, he is also in engineering

If you're more focused on Eng. works, then go for some Ryzen CPUs which will compromise gaming performance a bit, but if you cannot compromise on gaming, then you'd be compromising rendering on those soft.

Thank you Sir.

Could you recommend a RAM?

I just need 1 stick of 8Gb for now and will upgrade later when the need arise.

Look around, find the cheapest 8GB stick you can. Brand doesn't matter, the chips come from the same place anyway

idk

- 6700 or a 6700k

- another 8gb ram stick

or build a new computer with ryzen cpu, if you multitask alot with program like cad it will take some horsepower.

For now, I am inclined on doing the following :

Procie to 6600

MOBO to "cheaper"

Adding another 8Gb stick of ram

       Or

SSD if not the extra RAM(if I still got the budget)

I'ld LOVE to try RYZEN. But I am unfamiliar with AMD this past few years I wouldn't know how to utilize them.

I'ld like to remain on the comfort zone or reliable/proven/tested Intel. Since I am gonna  use it for school

Chances are, I will not OC in the near future.

get a 6600, cheap mobo 16gb ram. yes 1700 is overkill for your needs.

So I've found this really cheapo RAM KIT

"Geil Super Luce" with 2x8GbS and 3000mhz while still cheaper than avarage 4Gbs 2444mhz kit. Is this good

With the motherboard if your are using a 6th gen intel you can use a 100series chipset (h110, b150, z170 etc) it maybe cheaper
