hello,

i'm using vmware player on ubuntu 16.10, and i'm using it to run windows 10. now, every sound from the VM comes out all distorted and echoey. i've tried setting the quality in the windows sound settings to all values possible, but that doesn't change anything. i also disabled windows sound enhancements, also with no luck.

Do you have ubuntu set up properly for sound? the reason I ask is that I have to change my output on EVERY version of linux I have ever used, if not I don't get any sound as it's usually chosen the wrong output. Might not be your issue as you're getting sound, just garbled, but might be worth a look. I use virtualbox BTW and have no problems with sound and windows 10.

yeah, i get normal audio from ubuntu itself... so it isn't that. even if i set vmware to hdmi audio i still get the same garbled sound from my laptop speakers, so that's a bit weird.
