Issue

My computer restarts any time I'm playing games. Anything more than League of Legends will crash at any time, and even LoL crashes if I'm trying to use Skype at the same time. It's not the issue I've had in a previous PC, where any game crashes right as the power ramps up (fixed by upgrading the PSU.)

Right now, I can launch Path of Exile, for example, and play for 5-10 minutes before it crashes. It seems to be an issue with memory. I have 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Blu, which is all recognized in BIOS, but 4GB is apparently "hardware reserved" (Resource Monitor screenshot.) I ran Memsched.exe, which did not identify any errors with my memory.

It's possible that these issues are just damage over time since one of my case's panels has been busted for the past year. The components are exposed, but I take care of dust settling pretty often.

Potential Solutions?

As far as I know, IF this is a hardware issue, I need to try new RAM, then a new motherboard. If you have suggestions, let me know. If it costs money, I won't be able to try it for quite a while.

Edit: Users Bonsai99 and Altecice suggested a new PSU, which I will take as my primary fix for these errors.

PC Specs

OS: Windows 8 64-bit

Mobo: ASRock A75 Pro4

APU: AMD A8-3870APU

RAM: 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Blu

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB

PSU: Logisys 575W

Case: Diablotek Abyss White

Thanks for reading! I hope my PC can get back to proper working order soon.

Tier 5 Other than the units listed above for any of these brands, NOT RECOMMENDED.  Replace ASAP if you have one.

  • Tier 5 power supplies are NOT RECOMMENDED.  If you have one, you should strongly consider replacing it ASAP.  These can damage your computer, and often cannot put out the power that they're rated for. If a brand name is listed here, then all models from that brand name are considered to be Tier 5, except for those specific models listed above.

  • Logisys

get rid of it before it damages something.

I appreciate the quick responses. I'll try out a new PSU as soon as possible, and I'll put an edit in the original post.

However, does that explain the 11 months I've had with the exact same setup, where just recently I've had this RAM issue where half of it is hardware reserved?
