Okay. so this PC isn't letting me boot into an OS. It's saying I have no bootable device. After multiple attemping windows installations, whenever the PC goes to restart, it tells me again that the HDD isn't a bootable device. I also tried this with an entirely new driving thinking that the drive was the issue. Also, I have attempted resetting the CMOS and to no avail

Does your hard drive/SSD show up in the BIOS/UEFI?

not sure, but it does show up whenever I boot to the windows installation media, the only problem is, whenever it restarts to continue the installation, it says that the device isn't bootable

What version of Windows are you trying to install and also where did you get the iso? I'm thinking it might be an issue of corrupted installation media.

Have you tried the hard drive/ssd on another computer to make sure it's functioning correctly? If you're able to try installing windows onto that hard drive while it's in another computer to see if it still gives you the same error.

Nope, its a legit installation media from Windows. already had windows installed on the drive before I put it into the PC

So I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, this is happening to a computer that you were using without issue until one day the HDD gave the error that it wasn't bootable? I see you said you tried a second HDD thinking it was a drive issue, did this drive give the same error?

When I was talking about the installation media I mean is it a USB thumb drive or a Windows DVD, also what version of Windows is it?

Trying to install Windows 10, and no it is a kind of mish-mash of hardware that I have lying around. I got the same issue before, and after resetting the CMOS I was able to get Windows to install. I feel like something is wrong with the mainboard

You can fix this problem by checking or changing the boot order of your PC

  • Power on your PC and press "F2" button to enter your PC BIOS interface.
  • Select "BIOS Setup Utility" option to select "Advanced BIOS Features".
  • Highlight "Hard Disk Boot Priority" and check or reset your bootable hard disk as the first in the boot device list.
  • Press "Esc" to get back
  • restart your PC

I'll give that a shot, I don't see how that would fix it though, because I had a drive on there with windows on it already
