My helvetica font is all messed up

For some reason, a tonne of websites which use helvetica look disgusting, all of a sudden, including this one (LinusTechTips), Facebook, Humble Bundle etc.

Anyone have any experience with this or have a clue on how to fix it?

It should be defaulting to Arial or whatever your browser's default sans-serif font is if Helvetica is missing. I don't know what browser you're using, but check its options menu to make sure your default fonts are correct.

I'm using Google Chrome, and this all started happening after I tried to install Helvetica as a font for Photoshop.
