New PC can't post, help!

Hello everyone!

 

I bought a Pentium G4560, 8 gigs of DDR4 ram and an ASRock B250M-HDV mobo. The problem I'm having with it is this: at first, I installed everything, GPU, memory, HDD that kind of stuff, and after powering it on, got 5 rapid, short beeps and no picture on display.

 

I swapped memory modules, reseated the GPU, still 5 short, fast beeps, no display. After removing the GPU and trying to use the iGPU, the PC booted up and I was able to install Windows 10, browse around and enter the UEFI BIOS without any problems.

 

You can say that the GPU is bad, but I was just using it today in my other rig with an A10-5800K, 8 gb DDR3 and ASUS A68HM-K mobo until the new stuff arrived today so I have just put everything together.

 

If you are thinking of the PSU, it can't be the cause as it's also from the A10 rig and it's only 2 or so months old 500W Chieftec unit, which as I already said, supplied the R9 and the A10 with sufficient power.

 

Please I need help fast!

Maybe the PCIe slot on the  ASRock B250M-HDV may have been damaged in shipping or so

I don't see any physical sign of damage on it and it was quite well packaged. Even the box doesn't have any sign of damage.

The 5 beeps is an error code. Look up what it means, maybe it will give us some more info

I looked it up already and I found something called "process failure" which relates to the CPU being bad, but as I said the problem appears only when the dedicated GPU is present alongside it.

If you're sure your GPU still works (maybe test it again in your other rig) and your power supply is okay, then I'd have to agree with @LakeeZdinoand I think the most likely cause is a faulty motherboard.

After these many hours, I'm happy that I can prove you wrong with the motherboard being faulty. I was tinkering with the BIOS settings and after switching some PCI values from Auto to Gen2, the PC booted up no problem without beeps.
