I'm looking for a super fast external storage doesn't matter if its a USB drive or a portable drive or a non portable one as long as its super fast and external not an internal one.

yup i know that since ssd is faster than hdd but which brand of external ssd

samsung and western digital are generally the fastest just make sure you are running it on a usb 3.0 port or youll slow down significantly

super fast, i will run a full OS with programs on it.

what about sandisk?

sandisk ssds are also quite fast but according to quoted specs on newegg the sandisk extreme has a read/write of 415 versus samsung t3's read of 450 and writes of up to 480

Even a USB 2.0 based 2.5 inch HDD is perfectly fine for running an OS. Why are you running an OS though?
