Hello LTT Community,

My old FX-6300 (AM3+ socket) / ASRock 970 Extreme3 PC stopped posting a while ago but since i heavily OC'ed that CPU and it was a few years old i figured it finally died.

For the PC to still work i bought a cheap Athlon X2 240 dual core (AM3 socket) and it worked fine.

Now i because dual cores are painfully slow i wanted to upgrade to at least a quad core so i bought a new FX-4300 (AM3+) but it won't post with it aswell.

The Ram i am using is 4x 4GB and with the X2 240 with all 4 sticks installed it shows only 4GB usable, so i put them in one at the time and only one of them seems to be working on their own.

But even with the one working stick the FX is not posting.

I don't really know how to google this problem. do you think the board is dead or is the FX-4300 DoA?

thanks for your time
